ATSA Independent Living Expo series wrap-up

Bigger stand, better conversations, real momentum

Last year, our ATSA experience looked like a 3 x 3m stand, one piece of equipment and a couple of people from our team.

This year, it was a real step up for us as an emerging brand in Australia.

Across Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, our larger presence (Over 50 sqm) gave us room to do more than display complex rehab and assistive technology equipment. It gave us space to connect properly with occupational therapists, dealers, clinicians, families and people looking for practical ways to support greater mobility and more independence.

For our team, those conversations were the real highlight.

Garry Stanners, Cubro’s Community Care Team Leader, said it perfectly,

“It was so amazing to talk with so many passionate, like-minded people, all wanting to find solutions to make their clients, partners or children’s lives better.”

What people came to talk about

Across the series, the conversations kept coming back to the same thing: people want equipment that fits real lives, not just clinical checklists.

Occupational therapists came with questions about pressure care, positioning, mobility and client outcomes. Dealers wanted to understand where our solutions could support gaps in the market. Families and people in need wanted to see what greater independence could actually look like.

That’s where having equipment on stand made all the difference.

Our new Cubro Alera® pressure care mattress range gave people a closer look at what sits beneath the surface of a high-quality pressure care mattress, from pressure redistribution and microclimate management to reducing shear and friction.

Our bariatric power wheelchair options and Cobi Rehab XXL range opened up important conversations about fit, freedom, safety and dignity for larger users, especially people who have often had fewer suitable options.

And our compact folding and outdoor-ready scooters brought a very immediate kind of feedback. People could try them, move around the stand and quickly picture where they might fit into everyday life.

It was so awesome to see the joy people found in solutions we’re bringing to Australia.”, Garry shared.

Standing up for inclusion

Standing wheelchair technology was one of the most meaningful parts of the series for our team.

Powered and manual standing options give wheelchair users the ability to move into a true 90-degree standing position. This helps to support inclusion, pressure relief, bone and joint health, and the simple but powerful experience of meeting people at eye level.

Mark Sheehy, Cubro Solution Specialist and Physiotherapist, took that conversation further in his seminar, “Standing Up for Inclusion: Enhancing Health for Wheelchair Users.” His session explored the health, well-being, and social value of standing, and why more people deserve access to solutions that make it possible.

A proud moment in Brisbane

A proud moment for the team was receiving the ATSA Best Exhibitor Marketing award in Brisbane.

We had a plan to bring a bit of Kiwi and Aussie rivalry into the lead-up to the event, partly to draw attention to our presence at the ATSA series, and partly because healthcare marketing does not always need to look like stock photos and soft blue gradients.

The response was brilliant. We loved seeing people engage with the campaign online, then carry that energy through to the stand in person. We really enjoyed hearing people’s take on the trans-Tasman banter.

What a series!

The ATSA 2026 event series gave us a chance to connect across Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane. It was packed with clinical questions, product conversations, dealer connections and a chance to launch our brand in Australia in a much bigger way.

To everyone who visited us, thank you. We loved talking with you, learning from you and showing what’s possible.

Cubro, trusted in New Zealand. Now in Australia.
